The Pain Machinery
Terminate transmission:

This is a project from Stockholm and the demo "Terminate Transmission" contains 7 tracks of what I´d call power-noise. So far it sounds like nothing really special but ignoring this album would be a big mistake. Anders Karlsson worked out a couple of really powerful tracks with the potential to become club-hits. Driving beats are bundled with rough noise-attacks but still you can discover clear structures and often they remind of classical EBM-tracks. Of course you can be sure not to hear a single not distorted sound on this album. An good introduction gives the opening track "Enter". Very excessive drumming and danceable harshness earn this piece of music a place between sounds of Winterkälte or Feindlfug on the turntables. Definitely one for the clubs.

Another excellent track is "Ecstatic" which features both elements of Power-Noise and EBM I described before. A very nice arranged track with enough power to keep you wake through the night. It shows the artist is able to use his instruments. The last two tracks "Quiet Lies" and "Enter the Underworld" are completely different to the rest of the album and more some kind of disturbing noise-ambient tracks and the last one comes even without a rhythm and driven by different sound-images. "Quiet Lies" reminded me somehow of the old Suicide Commando because of the distorted snare-sound.

The album started very powerful and ends a little bit boring I think, but the first tracks are worth everything. Really brilliant newcomer-material with much potential. To be honest there is still lacking some complexity sometimes (especially on Ecstatic I expected some more breaks) but so the material is very straight and does not loose it´s initial force in to much loops and over arranged structures. The E.M.P. (electro-magnetic pulse) is an award The New Empire rewards to very good newcomerbands (rookies). Due to the fact, that not many good demos exist, this EMP might not change over several month 'till we hear a newcomer-band that is worth to be elected as the new EMP. Try to check out this EMP, it might be the superstar of tomorrow...
