The Pain Machinery
Terminate transmission:
Only very occasionally, a new industrial album will come along and make my jaw drop.
Even more rarely, an unsigned demo will do the same thing. The appearance of The Pain
Machinery's Terminate Transmission was one of those very few times in which it was both at the same time. This album is filled with carefully sculpted noise patterns, along the same vein as early Skinny Puppy and equally-early Front 242, albeit with its own distinct sound. Now, when I say carefully constructed, I mean it. The harsh bleeps, buzzs, snaps, and clacks all fit together to form a cohesive, danceable pattern.
This is what EBM is supposed to sound like.
